Portglenone Forest (09050102)

Portglenone Forest (09050102) - County Antrim
The ancient woodland of Portglenone Forest is located just outside Portglenone on the banks of the River Bann. It was described as early as 1607 by Sir John Davys. The woodland particularly comes alive at the end of April and start of May when the bluebells are in full boom. These are complimented by wild garlic, wood anemone and rare orchids. This photograph was taken during mid afternoon when the high sun was dappling the forest floor.
