Poisoned Glen (10083228)

Poisoned Glen (10083228) - County Donegal
The Poisoned Glen sits at the head of Dunlewey Lough in the Gweedore district of County Donegal. Its name is suspected to originate from an incorrect translation from the Irish name. This photograph was taken on a late summer evening, moments before the sun dropped below a distant hill. The glen is quite boggy in places and can be plagued by midges in late summer. However, a walk up the glen gives some spectacular views of the impressive cliffs at the back of the glen. If you are lucky, you might even catch sight of Golden Eagles which were recently reintroduced to nearby Glenveagh.
